TEC Adds Warehouse Alliance Member

To better manage its warehouse inventory, Coleman County Electric Cooperative joined the Texas Electric Cooperatives Vendor-Managed Inventory Alliance, effective January 2017.

“We went with TEC to be able to control our inventory in a more efficient manner and to fully utilize the services that an organization that we are part-owners of provides,” said Clint Gardner, CEO/general manager of Coleman County EC. “We know from experience that TEC will provide the resources we value and need on a daily basis.”

TEC offers three levels of warehouse alliances, from sourcing a single product category, such as wires or transformers, to total warehouse management. The programs aim to help co-ops increase efficiency and decrease material and overhead costs.

Through the VMI Alliance, Coleman County EC saves money on inventory by joining a cooperative buying network and boosts its efficiency by having TEC purchase all inventory then manage it through barcoding and automated replenishment systems.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work closely with Coleman County EC employees and provide exceptionally high levels of service and value through the cooperative buying model,” said Johnny Andrews, TEC Manufacturing & Distribution Services chief operating officer.
